Titanium

Titanium is a wonderful but misunderstood material. We have extensive experience welding and machining titanium for use in aerospace, deep space, seawater and commercial applications.

Titanium is winning increasing acceptance in commercial applications as equipment designers and owners consider life cycle costs in their material selection process.

The welding and machining of titanium is, in many ways, the same as with other metals. However, many manufacturers have experienced difficulty working with titanium due to their lack of awareness of the metal's unique physical properties and their impact on manufacturing processes.

We have focused our process development efforts on understanding this material and have completed many successful titanium projects.

It's not unusual for 50% of our work-in-process to consist of titanium equipment. Our experience includes working in alloy grades as well as commercially pure grades including:

  • Unalloyed (commercially pure)
  • 6AL-4V and 6AL-4V (ELI)
  • 6AL-2Cb-1Ta-0.8MO
  • 3AL-2.5V
  • 15V-3AL

Our engineering staff is available to help you through the manufacturing design issues you will face when considering the use of titanium.
